Amiga eBookman Emacs Interpreters running on the Java VM. Particularly useful for embedding playable versions of a game on a web page to save people having to download an interpreter (on the assumption that they already have a Java interpreter). But note that this is still ultimately less portable than just making the story file available, and giving a link to the interpreter catalogue.
